Mark E. Coticchia is Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer of the Henry Ford Health System
in Detroit, Michigan. He leads Henry Ford Innovations, a business unit dedicated to solving complex
problems in healthcare and positioning Henry Ford to shape the rapidly changing future of medicine. Mr.
Coticchia is responsible for leveraging the Henry Ford’s intellectual and clinical assets through
new ventures, M&A, corporate partnerships, product development, and technology commercialization.
In his role, he also oversees the Henry Ford Innovation Institute, Henry Ford Ventures, the Davidson
Center for Digital Health, and Henry Ford’s global initiatives.
With more than thirty years of institutional, venture development, and technology-based economic
development experience, Mr. Coticchia has also served as Vice President for Research, Technology
Management, and Economic Development at Case Western Reserve University and Director of
Technology Transfer and Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University. His
venture development experiences include CEO of Redwind Innovations LLC, and Senior Director
of Redleaf Group Inc., an early stage venture capital firm.
Mr. Coticchia is an architect of Detroit’s emerging Innovation Network, and previously has been an
instrumental part of the nationally recognized tech-based ecosystems in Pittsburgh and Cleveland.
He served as Senior Advisor to the Ohio Department of Higher Education, as well as member of the
board of directors and advisory boards of many high-tech companies and not-for-profit organizations.
Mr. Coticchia received both his M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and B.S. degree in Civil
Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He is an author of several books and a frequent
speaker on technology management.
